When the "king of sentimental music" faced "empty hands"

The live show "Hai ban tay bach" which will take place at the Hanoi Opera House on August 1st is also the story of his life filled with bitterness...
Normally, sentimental music rarely “shows its face” at the Opera House, except for the live show Tuan Vu once set a record of 5 consecutive nights of performance there and has not been repeated until now. The opportunity came to the poor musician Vinh Su, who was once famous because he was lucky to meet a dedicated philanthropist: to carry out a series of programs honoring authors and works that were once the souvenirs of a generation of Vietnamese music listeners, under the name “Golden Days”.
A private night dedicated to “cheesy music” at the “art sanctuary” is also a precious gift that the organizers gave to Vinh Su when his health started to show signs of deterioration, as he shared: “My life is not long left, and I always long to have a private music night like this, to live in happiness that the audience still remembers my music…”.

The “King of sentimental music” always considered his compositions to be for the poor, so his lyrics were often simple and familiar to the general public. Entering the Opera House was therefore a “new look” for famous yellow music songs of the time such as: “Two empty hands”, “Knock on the heart”, “Wandering night”, “Passing through your house”, “Reconnecting old love”…

The song “Two empty hands” has become a catchphrase for many people, and it seems to have also been applied to his life at the end of his life. Once famous as a musician who made a lot of money from selling music, once famous as a womanizer because he loved many people and had 4 wives, but in the end, for him now he has “two empty hands”: poverty, illness (he is currently suffering from colon cancer that has metastasized), no wife by his side (his 4th wife only often comes to take care of him when he is sick, because she also has her own life, her children are “the only ones”, and they are all in difficult situations…).
However, overcoming the hardship, the former “king of sentimental music” still maintains his optimism and joy of life, not afraid of illness or death, but only worried that he would no longer be able to compose. He said that it was during his illness that he wrote the most, and he is currently recording his works to prepare for a collection in the near future. At the “Two Empty Hands” music night, musician Vinh Su will also introduce some of his new songs.

Performing his songs will be singers who especially love Vinh Su's music such as Le Quyen, comedian Chien Thang, singers Ngoc Cham, Ha Van, Quang Tam, Bach Nguyen... and especially singer Bao Khanh - the "pet" of Thuy Nga overseas music center.
