The Yen Thanh District Cultural Center was packed with people. From early morning, students from Yen Thanh Town Primary School were present to welcome delegates and residents to an early Spring Festival held in the rice-growing region. Veteran journalist Truong Son (formerly of the People's Army Newspaper), with his white beard and hair, arrived at the Nghe An Newspaper's booth an hour before the opening ceremony, affectionately watching the staff and reporters from various newspapers arrange publications on display. Holding the Nghe An Newspaper's Spring Festival issue for the Year of the Goat in his hands, the nearly 80-year-old journalist was very impressed with the theme of reviving the spirit of the countryside, passing on the Vi and Giam folk songs, and the newspaper's outstanding articles: "It's been a long time since I've experienced a professional festival like this. Journalism, like Vi and Giam folk songs, always carries the passion of the profession from generation to generation. This is also the tradition of revolutionary journalists."

The joy of the veteran journalist was also the shared joy of 400 journalists and members from 7 media agencies and reporters from 41 resident offices and representative offices of newspapers in Nghe An, as well as the Party Committee, government, and people of Yen Thanh district. Comrade Hoang Nghia Hieu, Provincial Party Committee member and Secretary of the Yen Thanh District Party Committee, enthusiastically expressed that this year, Yen Thanh is truly honored to host the 13th Spring Press Festival in its district. Throughout its development, Yen Thanh district has always received the attention of media agencies inside and outside the province. This is a great source of encouragement and motivation for the rice-growing district to gradually transform itself. “The Spring Press Festival is an opportunity to strengthen the close relationship between journalists and media agencies with Yen Thanh district, and also an opportunity for the district to introduce and promote the image of a land rich in cultural and revolutionary traditions,” Comrade Hoang Nghia Hieu affirmed.

Following the opening drumbeat by Comrade Dinh Thi Le Thanh, Standing Committee Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and the ribbon-cutting ceremony by provincial leaders, a joyful atmosphere imbued with the spirit of spring permeated the exhibition booths displaying spring publications from various media agencies. This year, more than 100 newspapers and 1,000 publications, including central newspapers and magazines, industry newspapers, and those from nearly 60 provinces and cities nationwide, were featured in the Press Festival. In particular, the 17 booths of central and local media agencies showcased unique and impressive publications, attracting a large number of readers and viewers from the rice-growing region of Yen Thanh.

This year, Nghe An Newspaper continues to bring its main publications to the Spring Festival of the Year of the Goat: the daily newspaper, the online newspaper, the 2015 Gregorian New Year's issue, and the Year of the Goat's New Year's issue. These are outstanding publications of Nghe An Newspaper from the past year. In particular, the cover of the 2015 Year of the Goat's New Year's issue, themed "Reviving the Soul of the Homeland," evoking the image of the transmission of Nghe An folk songs and melodies, was highly appreciated by readers. This cover also won the B prize at the National Spring Festival held in Hanoi from February 7-10. Nguyen Van Huy was excited to watch the special video clips about Nghe An folk songs and melodies and about the activities of Nghe An Newspaper reporters in Truong Sa on the Nghe An online newspaper, and was delighted to be constantly asked by the reporters to take photos with him. The festival space was highlighted by a series of photos submitted to the "Golden Moment" photo contest in Nghe An newspaper in 2014. These were outstanding works, surpassing tens of thousands of entries to reach the final round.

Mr. Tran Duy Ngoan, a member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association and Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial Journalists Association, affirmed that this year, the quality of publications presented at the Spring Press Festival has improved. Press agencies both within and outside the province strived to showcase their outstanding achievements throughout the past year with distinctive products. Among them, Nghe An Newspaper continued to affirm its leading position as a local Party newspaper, receiving high praise from the National Spring Press Festival for its format and quality, with outstanding publications that created a profound social impact.

“The increasingly improved quality of publications from press agencies in the province is the clearest evidence of the progress of the journalistic staff and press agencies in the province. Reporters and journalists have made every effort, always upholding a sense of responsibility, political integrity, professional competence, and dedication to their profession to affirm the role of journalism in the development of our homeland and country,” Comrade Tran Duy Ngoan affirmed.

Particularly noteworthy are the achievements in the fields of culture, society, infrastructure development, tourism, social activities, and meaningful Tet celebrations such as "Tet for the Poor" and "Tet of Folk Songs and Melodies," which have garnered significant attention both domestically and internationally and have been comprehensively covered by the press.
