Earlier in the morning of the same day, an employee of FPT Shop (National Highway 1K, Linh Xuan Ward, Thu Duc District) checked the camera system and discovered a masked subject, cutting through the plaster ceiling of the store and then climbing down with a rope to break the safe, so he reported it to the police.

Upon receiving the news, the working group of Thu Duc District Police quickly arrived at the scene to carry out the arrest. When the door of the store was opened, the working group rushed in, the subject was wearing a backpack and tried to run away but was restrained.
At the scene, a rectangular hole was cut into the plaster ceiling of the store, just enough for a person to crawl through, and a 3-4 meter long rope was hanging down from the hole. The safe nearby was damaged, and the money inside, more than 120 million VND, was gone.

Checking the backpack of the subject, the police seized more than 120 million and some other evidence such as pliers and knives. The subject and the evidence were taken to headquarters.
At the investigation agency, the suspect Nguyen Van Cong had a previous conviction for “theft of property”. Cong’s theft was similar to other recent thefts. Thu Duc District Police suspected that Cong had committed many other thefts, so they organized an investigation to clarify the matter.
