Groundbreaking ceremony for a school in a difficult border commune of Ky Son district

(Baonghean.vn) - On July 20, Vietnam Veterans Newspaper in collaboration with Nghe An Provincial Border Guard, Vietnam Heart Fund - VTV and sponsors started construction of a retail location in Hoa Ly village, My Ly 1 Primary School, My Ly commune, Ky Son district.

My Ly is a remote commune of Ky Son district, bordering Laos. The commune has 12 villages where Thai, Mong and Kho Mu ethnic groups live. Due to the rugged mountainous terrain, divided by many rivers, streams and deep ravines, the lives of the people here still face many difficulties. Up to now, the poverty rate of My Ly commune still accounts for more than 65%.

Hoa Ly satellite campus, My Ly 1 Primary School is the place of study for 100% of Thai ethnic students of Hoa Ly village, My Ly commune. However, the old school was built of wood in the year 2000 and is now seriously damaged, posing a safety risk to students and teachers.

Sharing the difficulties with the school and students here, the units have mobilized the support of philanthropists, sponsored all the costs and the local government, people of My Ly commune, My Ly Border Guard Station will contribute working days to rebuild the Hoa Ly retail point.

The retail location will be built with 2 classrooms, 2 office rooms with an area of ​​nearly 150m2.2and adjacent works; with a total estimated cost of more than 700 million VND.

The project is expected to be put into use in early September 2022, in time for students to have spacious classrooms in the new school year 2022 - 2023./.
