Ba To Uprising - a profound lesson about taking people as the root
In addition to its stature and strategic significance, the Ba To Uprising that took place on March 11, 1945, was a victory that left many valuable lessons.
That is seizing the opportunity, leading the armed uprising, overthrowing the enemy government, establishing a revolutionary government; experience in building revolutionary armed forces. In particular, the lesson of building a "people's heart position" and a people's war position still holds true in the current cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

The power of revolution lies in the people.
According to scientists, researchers and generals, the Ba To Uprising is a clear demonstration of patriotism, the indomitable will to fight and the close solidarity between the people and the revolutionary forces. In particular, the active participation of the people was the decisive factor in the success of the uprising, one of the models of armed uprising, using revolutionary violence to overthrow counter-revolutionary violence in the South Central region, creating the premise for the General Uprising to seize power in August 1945.
The Ba To guerrillas relied on the people to operate, fight and win, proving the people's war policy, a unique feature of Vietnamese military art in the Ho Chi Minh era. The Ba To guerrillas truly came from the people and fought for the people. There was a close blood relationship between the Ba To guerrillas and the local masses.

“The Ba To uprising left valuable lessons for the Vietnamese revolution on building and consolidating revolutionary forces; on the steadfast and flexible leadership of the Indochinese Communist Party; on combining forms of struggle; and on taking the people as the root,” affirmed Lieutenant General Trinh Dinh Thach, Party Secretary and Political Commissar of Military Region 5.
According to Senior Lieutenant General Le Chiem, former member of the Party Central Committee and former Deputy Minister of National Defense, during the Ba To Uprising, the “people’s hearts” were clearly demonstrated. Despite their very poor economic life, the people still contributed food, provisions and essential necessities to support the Ba To Guerrilla Team. At the same time, they participated in manufacturing rudimentary weapons to arm themselves to protect the village, support the guerrilla forces; and support the construction of a resistance base in the Ba To mountain area, helping the guerrilla forces maintain long-term operations. This base was not only a military training ground but also the center of the revolutionary movement in Quang Ngai province. Many young people joined the Ba To guerrilla force, forming the core of the movement for the entire people to fight the enemy.

Analyzing the "people's hearts" in the Ba To Uprising, Senior Lieutenant General Le Chiem drew three valuable lessons. That is, thoroughly grasp and deeply imbue the viewpoint that "people are the root", people's hearts are the source of strength of the revolution; the Party's correct leadership is the key to uniting people's hearts, focusing on building a great national unity bloc; implementing effective mass mobilization policies, focusing on exploiting local factors to create advantages in development, associated with propaganda and education on revolutionary history and traditions.
“The people’s heart position” in the Ba To Uprising affirmed that the strength of the revolution lies in the people, and correct leadership along with effective policies are key factors. The lessons from the Ba To Uprising still have value in building a solid “people’s heart position” to serve the cause of building and defending the Fatherland,” Senior Lieutenant General Le Chiem emphasized.
Party's will blends with people's heart
From the “People’s Hearts” in the Ba To Uprising, Senior Lieutenant General Le Chiem believes that in the current national construction and defense, people’s peace is the decisive factor for the victory of the revolutionary cause. Therefore, Party organizations at all levels need to strengthen, build and improve the quality of Party members, resolutely innovate and comprehensively reform the political system to ensure that it is streamlined, strong, effective, efficient and effective.
“The core factor to build a “people’s hearts and minds” is to focus on being close to, listening to, and solving people’s problems, especially in issues such as land, environment, and social policies. The implementation of mass mobilization programs needs to go deep into people’s lives, especially in mountainous, remote, and isolated areas, where education, health, and infrastructure are still facing many difficulties. It is necessary to exploit the advantages of each region to develop the economy, combined with preserving and promoting unique local cultural values to improve and enhance the quality of people’s lives,” Senior Lieutenant General Le Chiem suggested.

Talking about promoting the lesson of taking the people as the root, Lieutenant General Trinh Dinh Thach, Party Secretary and Political Commissar of Military Region 5, shared that when the revolutionary movement closely follows the lives and interests of the people, it will receive strong and persistent support from the masses, leaving behind a profound lesson of taking the people as the root, building a position of people's hearts, and a solid national solidarity bloc.
“In the current new situation, it is necessary to continue promoting the people's mastery, implementing the motto "people know, people discuss, people do, people inspect, people supervise, people enjoy", arousing and strongly promoting the spirit of patriotism, autonomy, self-confidence, self-reliance, national pride, aspiration, and strong motivation to build and develop a prosperous and happy country among the people, especially the young generation", Lieutenant General Trinh Dinh Thach noted.
