Proud of our traditions
Located in the low-lying rice-growing area south of Dien Chau district, Dien Tho (along with Dien Phu and Dien Loc) was formerly part of Nho Lam (Cao Xa commune). It is the birthplace of General Cao Lo, who helped Thuc Phan An Duong Vuong create the magic crossbow to fight against invading forces. Continuing the patriotic tradition of their ancestors, the people and soldiers of Dien Tho commune upheld the revolutionary spirit, determined to fight and produce, achieving glorious victories in the August Revolution of 1945 and the two sacred resistance wars against France and the United States. During the war against the US, this rural area served as a rear base, concentrating ammunition and supplies for combat on the battlefields, and as a reserve command post for higher levels when fighting occurred. My Ly train station and Dau bridge, located within the commune, were two key targets of fierce bombing by the US Air Force in the 1960s and 70s. The locality suffered heavy losses from 62 bombing raids by US aircraft and 326 shelling from naval vessels at sea; hundreds of people were killed or injured, and hundreds of houses were damaged…
Despite enduring countless sacrifices and hardships, the Party Committee and people of Dien Tho commune remained determined to fight while simultaneously engaging in production, ensuring security and national defense in the area, proving themselves worthy as a solid rear base; at the same time, providing full, timely, and high-quality support in terms of manpower and resources to the South to defeat the American invaders. Overall, in the struggle against the French and Americans for national liberation, the commune has 22 Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, 216 martyrs, 234 wounded and sick soldiers, and has provided support to the battlefields with over 3,500 outstanding sons and daughters.
