Prosecuted 14 subjects, seized nearly 10 tons of fake materials and drugs
Thanh Hoa Provincial Police have just dismantled a large-scale fake medicine production and trading ring nationwide, earning nearly 200 billion VND in profits.
According to information from Thanh Hoa Provincial Police, through monitoring the situation on cyberspace, the Economic Police Department of the Provincial Police discovered in Thanh Hoa City and some other localities a group of subjects with suspicious signs of producing and trading counterfeit medicine.
Conducting a special project to fight, in just a short time, the Economic Police Department of the Provincial Police collected complete documents and evidence.
The police agency urgently searched 6 locations where the subjects produced, worked, and hid goods in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and the provinces of Vinh Phuc, Hung Yen, An Giang, and Dong Thap.
During the search, the authorities seized 21 types of modern medicine, fake bone and joint medicine and many machines and equipment serving production activities. The total weight of fake modern medicine and raw materials to make medicine was nearly 10 tons.
According to the initial investigation results, the group led by Nguyen Tien Dat (born in 1991, residing in Thanh Xuan district, Hanoi) colluded with the group of Trinh Doan Giao (born in 1985, residing in Binh Tan district, Ho Chi Minh City) to produce and trade fake drugs.
At the police station, the subjects confessed that from 2021 until their arrest, they had sold a large quantity of fake drugs to the market, illegally earning nearly 200 billion VND.
Based on the collected documents, the Economic Police Department of the Provincial Police initiated a case and prosecuted 14 suspects for the crime of "Production and trading of counterfeit disease prevention and treatment drugs".
The case is currently under further investigation.
