Two individuals charged for impersonating police officers to extort money.

(Baonghean.vn) - Through verification by the Yen Thanh District Police, the person impersonating a criminal police officer from the provincial police to fine guesthouses is actually a police officer from Dong Van commune (Tan Ky district).

The two suspects, Phan Bá Hùng and Nguyễn Văn Tú, at the Yên Thành District Police Station.

On the afternoon of October 9th, Lieutenant Colonel Pham Xuan Khanh, deputy head of the Yen Thanh District Police, announced that a case had been initiated, charges had been filed, and Phan Ba ​​Hung (born in 1958, residing in Dong Van commune, Tan Ky district) and Nguyen Van Tu (born in 1978, residing in Giang Son commune, Do Luong district) had been temporarily detained for two months on charges of "fraudulent appropriation of property".

Earlier, at around 11 PM on September 25th, detectives spotted two individuals wearing police uniforms and carrying handcuffs at the Mai Tuyet guesthouse in Cong Thanh commune (Yen Thanh district) for a surprise administrative inspection. There, the two individuals identified themselves as officers from the PC45 department of the Provincial Police.

Upon discovering that three guests at the Mai Tuyet guesthouse had not registered their temporary residence, the suspects quickly recorded the incident in a report and threatened to fine the guesthouse owner and the guests 9 million VND.

While Hung and Tu were receiving the money, they were caught red-handed by the police of Yen Thanh district. Notably, the police uniform that Hung wore to commit the fraud actually had the insignia of a professional soldier.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Khánh, verification by the Yên Thành District Police confirmed that Hùng is a police officer in Đồng Văn Commune (Tân Kỳ District). The police officer's ID card that Hùng carried with him while committing the fraud was issued by the Tân Kỳ District Police in 2013 and was valid until May 2018.

At the police station, Hung and Tu confessed that they had bought police uniforms themselves and used them to conduct "surprise administrative inspections" at motels. Hung played the role of a "criminal investigator from the provincial police" while Tu played the role of a "police trainee." If they found any motel in violation, they would draw up a report, demand a fine from the motel, and then take the money for their own use.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hai, head of the Dong Van commune police (Tan Ky district), said that Hung is a police officer in Vinh Thanh village. Recently, Hung has frequently left the area and failed to perform his duties in ensuring security and order. The Dong Van commune People's Committee is also considering disciplinary action against Hung.
