Three individuals addicted to video games have been charged for ganging up to commit robbery in Vinh City.

Previously, through intelligence gathering and receiving reports and denunciations of crimes from the public, Vinh City Police discovered several individuals on motorcycles engaging in criminal activities.robberyon several routes in the area.

Given the reckless and audacious nature of the suspects, and in order to quickly stabilize the security and order situation in the area, the Vinh City Police established a special task force to investigate and clarify the case. Because the crimes occurred at night, and the suspects used motorcycles with removed or fake license plates, making identification difficult, the police force faced many challenges during the investigation.

However, through the coordinated application of professional measures, on January 9, 2025, the Vinh City Police cracked the case, arresting three suspects: Nguyen Van Tuan (born in 2002), residing in Ky Tan commune, Tan Ky district; Nguyen Sy Ha (born in 2007), residing in Can Loc district, Ha Tinh province; and Dang Huu Phuoc (born in 1995), residing in Nghi Trung commune, Nghi Loc district, for the crime of robbery.

During questioning, the suspects initially confessed: They met through social media, and due to their gaming addiction and lack of money, they planned to rob passersby. The suspects rode motorcycles with removed license plates on deserted roads at night, observing unsuspecting victims (mostly women), then approached them and snatched their belongings.

Using the above methods and tactics, the three suspects committed four robberies in Vinh City, stealing three motorbikes, four mobile phones, and one handbag, with a total value of approximately over 100 million VND.

Currently, the investigation into this case is ongoing and being expanded.
