Being prosecuted for illegally cutting down trees, 3 subjects in An Hoa commune, An Lao district, Binh Dinh province immediately took many actions to resist the authorities.

On July 23, An Lao District Police announced that they had just issued a decision to prosecute the case and prosecute three suspects, including Tran Quang Lap (born in 1975), Le Quoc Nguyen (born in 1984) and Nguyen Cao Son (born in 1972, all residing in An Hoa commune) for resisting people on official duty.

A forest in An Lao district was completely destroyed by loggers.

According to the initial investigation results, at the end of March 2018, the People's Committee of An Hung commune coordinated with the People's Committee of An Lao district to establish a working group consisting of forest rangers, police, commune militia, land administration, and forestry forces to inspect and handle acts of encroachment on forest land and illegal exploitation of forest products in sub-areas 6, 9, and 15. Through inspection at plot 5, sub-area 9, the working group discovered 3 subjects Lap, Nguyen, and Son using chainsaws to illegally cut down forest trees.

When they discovered the task force, Nguyen and Son ran away, while Lap was restrained by the task force members, but Lap resisted and ran away. Afterwards, all three subjects returned to block the road, threatened the task force members, and then snatched back the chainsaw.
