Prosecuted 34 prisoners for crimes in prison

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of March 17, at Prison No. 3 (General Department VIII - Ministry of Public Security), a conference was held to review 3 years of implementing coordination regulation No. 48 on ensuring security and order between Nghe An Police and Prison No. 3 and Prison No. 6 (2013-2015).

Attending and directing the conference was Major General Le Trong Dinh - Director of the Department of Prisoner Management (C85) of the Ministry of Public Security.

Prison No. 3 and Prison No. 6 are two units under the General Department VIII - Ministry of Public Security, located in Nghe An province.

Prison No. 3 is located in Nghia Dung commune, Tan Ky district with 2 sub-camps, 3 production targets, currently managing and detaining nearly 2,500 male prisoners; Prison No. 6 is located in Hanh Lam commune, Thanh Chuong district with 4 sub-camps and 8 production targets, located in 4 districts, currently detaining more than 3,500 prisoners.

Major General Le Trong Dinh - Director of the Department of Prisoner Management (C85) of the Ministry of Public Security delivered a speech at the Conference.

Coordination Regulation No. 48/QCPH on ensuring security and order between Nghe An Police and Prison No. 3 and Prison No. 6 was signed with the aim of ensuring absolute security and safety of prisons and maintaining good security and order in Nghe An province. Effectively providing and exchanging information related to security and order and investigating and resolving incidents and cases occurring in prisons in the area as well as effectively implementing amnesty, early release and doing a good job of reintegrating into the community.

During the coordination process, the three units developed specific plans for information exchange, meetings, and preliminary assessments of the security and order situation in the area and the security and safety situation of the prison.

After 3 years of implementing coordination regulation No. 48, through opening prisoner exploitation classes to collect information, Nghe An Police has received 163 valuable sources of crime denunciations in society; coordinated with two units, investigated, verified, clarified and prosecuted 24 cases, 34 prisoners committed crimes in prison and promptly arrested 8 prisoners who escaped from prison. In addition, many cases of bringing drugs and prohibited items into prison have been discovered and prevented.

Also during the past time, 523 prisoners were granted amnesty and early release; 2,376 prisoners who had completed their prison terms and had registered residence in Nghe An were accepted; procedures were completed for permanent residence registration and ID cards were issued to 967 prisoners who had completed their prison sentences and returned to reside in the locality.

Awarding Certificates of Merit from General Department VIII - Ministry of Public Security to units and individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing Regulation No. 48 in Nghe An.

Speaking at the Conference, Major General Le Trong Dinh, Director of the Department of Prisoner Management (C85) - Ministry of Public Security, acknowledged the smooth and effective coordination between the three units. He suggested that in 2016 and the following years, Nghe An Police continue to coordinate with prison units in the area to do better in ensuring security and order and ensuring absolute security and safety of prisons.

At the Conference, Nghe An Police, Prison No. 3 and Prison No. 6 organized the signing of the implementation of Regulation No. 48 on coordination to ensure security and order in 2016. On this occasion, General Department VIII - Ministry of Public Security awarded Certificates of Merit to 5 groups and 7 individuals, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee also awarded Certificates of Merit to 10 groups and 2 individuals with outstanding achievements./.
