Prosecution and temporary detention of former PVN Chairman Nguyen Quoc Khanh
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Khanh, former Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, was prosecuted, temporarily detained, searched, and temporarily suspended from performing the duties and powers of a National Assembly deputy.
Speaking with VietNamNet, Mr. Tran Van Tuy, Head of the Delegation Affairs Committee, Standing Committee of the National Assembly, said that this afternoon the Standing Committee of the National Assembly held an extraordinary meeting and passed two resolutions to temporarily suspend the duties of two National Assembly deputies.
These two National Assembly members include: Mr. Dinh La Thang, former Chairman of the Board of Directors (later the Board of Members) of PVN, National Assembly member of Thanh Hoa delegation and Mr. Nguyen Quoc Khanh, former Chairman of the Board of Members of PVN, National Assembly member of Quang Nam delegation.

Based on the submission of the Supreme People's Procuracy, the National Assembly Standing Committee voted with a high degree of consensus to pass a resolution on prosecuting, temporarily detaining, searching and temporarily suspending the performance of duties and powers of a National Assembly deputy against Mr. Nguyen Quoc Khanh, a deputy of the 14th National Assembly.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Khanh was appointed as Chairman of the Board of Members of PVN from January 12, 2016.
On March 9, 2017, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 308/QD-TTg on the resignation of Mr. Nguyen Quoc Khanh from the position of Chairman of the Board of Members of PVN to take up a position at the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Khanh was born in 1960, from Ha Tinh, graduated as a geophysical engineer specializing in petroleum geological exploration at Baku Petroleum University (former Soviet Union).
