(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of July 9th, Colonel Mai Chien Thang, Deputy Chief of Police of Vinh City (Nghe An), announced that Pham Thi Tuan Anh (born in 1979, residing in Nghi Phu commune, Vinh City) has been charged and detained for three months on charges of illegally buying and selling narcotics.

According to the case file, in early May 2015, through intelligence gathering in the area, the anti-drug police of Vinh City discovered a drug trafficking ring transporting ecstasy and other drugs from Hai Phong to Vinh. Pham Thi Tuan Anh, nicknamed "Mai Con," who had three previous convictions for drug-related offenses, was the target of the investigators' surveillance.

The Vinh City police leadership established a special investigation codenamed 615TL to combat and dismantle the criminal ring. However, tracking Pham Thi Tuan Anh proved very difficult because she was very cunning and often carried a handgun with her.

After more than a month of surveillance and gathering evidence, on the afternoon of June 24th, the special task force determined that a large quantity of drugs was being hidden at Pham Thi Tuan Anh's private residence in Nghi Phu commune, so they decided to "cast the net." More than a dozen anti-drug police officers from Vinh City Police were ordered to surround the house and wait for the opportune moment.

At 3 PM on June 24th, noticing a figure inside the house, the police jumped over the fence, kicked down the door, and stormed in. At that moment, Phạm Thị Tuấn Anh, quick as lightning, grabbed a package of drugs and fled through the back door, throwing it into a drain to dispose of the evidence. However, the female suspect was intercepted and apprehended by a task force waiting at the back door.

During a search of the suspect's residence, police seized 1,000 synthetic drug pills, a handgun, 6 bullets, 300 million VND, and 5 mobile phones. At the police station, the suspect confessed to the crime. The investigation is ongoing and being expanded.
