Four people prosecuted in the sinking of Hai Thanh 26 ship
On July 18, the Security Investigation Agency (Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Police) prosecuted and banned four people involved in the sinking of the Hai Thanh 26 ship that killed nine people from leaving their place of residence.
Those prosecuted include: Nguyen Viet Thang (46 years old, from Thai Binh, captain of Hai Thanh 26 ship), Hoang Tien Khoi (27 years old, from Hai Duong, deck officer of Hai Thanh 26 ship), Tran Kien (33 years old, from Thai Nguyen, second mate of Petrolimex 14 ship), Nguyen Xuan Sang (29 years old, from Dong Nai, sailor on duty of Petrolimex 14 ship).

The four defendants were prosecuted for "operating maritime vehicles in violation of maritime regulations of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam", according to Article 223 of the Penal Code.
Previously, in the early morning of March 28, in the sea more than 40 nautical miles from Vung Tau cape, there was a collision between the Hai Thanh 26 ship and the Petrolimex 14 ship, killing 9 people on the Hai Thanh 26 ship, and the ship also sank.
By May 2017, the police determined that the accident was caused by human error, so they initiated a criminal case./.
