(Baonghean.vn) - Ms. Hoang Thi Oanh, Deputy Director of Tam Oanh Forestry Products Import-Export Trading Company Limited, headquartered in Dien Thinh commune, Dien Chau district (Nghe An province), has been prosecuted and detained for 3 months on charges of tax evasion.

On the afternoon of August 7th, Colonel Nguyen Xuan Thiem, Head of the Criminal Investigation Department for Economic and Official Crimes (PC 46) of the Nghe An Provincial Police, announced that the investigating agency had issued a decision to prosecute and detain Hoang Thi Oanh (born in 1971), residing in Dien Thinh commune, Dien Chau district, for three months on charges of tax evasion.

Ms. Hoang Thi Oanh is the Deputy Director of Tam Oanh Forestry Products Import-Export Trading Company Limited (hereinafter referred to as Tam Oanh Forestry Products Company), headquartered in Dien Thinh commune, Dien Chau district.

Earlier on the morning of July 30th, after a period of monitoring tax evasion at Tam Oanh Forestry Company, Colonel Nguyen Xuan Thiem directly commanded more than 20 police officers from the PC 46 unit, in coordination with the functional agencies of Dien Chau district, to conduct an urgent search of the private residence of Hoang Thi Oanh and her husband.

When undercover officers staked out the house, they spotted a car and two motorbikes leaving the house, showing signs of carrying documents intended for disposal, so they were able to intercept them in time. Upon entering the house, authorities caught Mrs. Hoang Thi Oanh and her husband red-handed gathering and burning documents to conceal them.

Following the destruction of evidence and documents, Colonel Nguyen Xuan Thiem, Head of the Criminal Investigation Department for Economic and Official Crimes of the Nghe An Provincial Police, issued an urgent arrest warrant for Hoang Thi Oanh to investigate her alleged tax evasion. The seized evidence included numerous sacks of documents related to the company. On the same day, the investigating agency initiated a criminal case for tax evasion.

Tam Oanh Company's registered main business is trading in forest products, sourcing timber from Laos, then processing and exporting it domestically and to China. In 2014, the company was fined and ordered to pay back 419 million VND following an inspection of its tax and invoice compliance for the years 2012-2013.
