According to the investigation documents, Nghiem Dinh Tuyen had a love relationship with Ms. Nguyen Thi HY (born in 1995) in Cho town since 2008. Around mid-2017, Ms. Y. took the initiative to break up with Tuyen. Many times Tuyen wanted to rekindle the relationship but Ms. Y. did not agree.
After being dumped by his girlfriend, Tuyen discussed with his friend Nghiem Dinh Thiep and the two of them planned revenge.
At around 6:00 p.m. on February 17, 2018, Tuyen asked Thiep to buy gasoline and bring it to Ms. Y's house to threaten her. On the way to Ms. Y's house, Tuyen saw many red flags with yellow stars (Vietnam's national flag) on the roadside tied to sticks on the trees by the roadside and stole one of the flags.
When he arrived at Ms. Y's house, Thiep tied one end of the flag, soaked it in gasoline, lit it, and threw it into his ex-girlfriend's house. Then the two of them sped away on their motorbike.
Discovered by some passersby, the two subjects grabbed a flag hanging on the side of the road, soaked it in gasoline, set it on fire, and threw it at the people.
Immediately after receiving the report, Yen Phong District Police arrived to investigate and verify the incident. Knowing that they could not hide their crimes, Tuyen and Thiep surrendered to the police.
The case is currently being investigated and clarified by Yen Phong District Police.
