Prosecution of coach for abusing his position and appropriating athletes' money
On April 29, the Investigation Security Agency of Nghe An Province Police announced that it had just issued a Decision to prosecute the case and prosecute the accused Ton Quy Hoa (born in 1982), residing in Van Trung block, Hung Dung ward, Vinh city (head coach of the shuttlecock kicking department) for the crime of abusing position and power to appropriate property as prescribed in Article 355 of the 2015 Penal Code.
Through the investigation, the Internal Political Security Department of Nghe An Provincial Police discovered that Ton Quy Hoa, a coach at Nghe An Sports Training and Competition Center, had suspicious signs related to violations of the law, appropriating athletes' allowances for a long period of time.
Faced with the above situation, in order to not affect the reputation of the sports industry of Nghe An province, affect the psychology and performance in training and competition of athletes, after reporting to the leaders of the Provincial Police, the Internal Political Security Department presided over and coordinated with the Investigation Security Department to establish a special project, focusing on fighting and clarifying.
Synchronously deploying professional measures to collect and consolidate documents and evidence, on April 23, the Special Task Force executed an Emergency Detention Order against Ton Quy Hoa (head coach of the shuttlecock department at Nghe An Sports Training and Competition Center) for the act of abusing position and power to appropriate property (stipulated in Article 355, Penal Code 2015). At the same time, an Emergency Search Order was carried out at Ton Quy Hoa's residence and workplace, seizing a number of documents and many related exhibits.
Initially, the Nghe An Provincial Police Investigation Security Agency investigated and clarified: During the period from 2021 to the time of his arrest, taking advantage of his position and power, Ton Quy Hoa appropriated various types of allowances of 3 athletes with a total amount of more than 200 million VND.
Currently, the police have recovered all the money that Ton Quy Hoa appropriated and returned the property to the victims; at the same time, they continue to complete the dossier to handle the subject according to the provisions of the law.
