Facebooker Chuong May Man was accused of abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the State, the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals, and posting distorted information about the incident in Dong Tam.

On January 20, the Investigation Police Agency of Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City prosecuted and detained Chung Hoang Chuong (born in 1977, residing in Hung Loi Ward, Ninh Kieu District), owner of the Facebook account Chuong May Man, for investigation into the act of Abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the State and the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals.

On January 10, the investigation agency discovered that the Facebook account Chuong May Man, managed and used by Chuong, posted many articles with distorted content that discredited state agencies and armed forces in the case of resisting law enforcement officers that occurred in Dong Tam commune, My Duc district, Hanoi.

Chung Hoang Chuong was prosecuted and detained for investigation.

Ninh Kieu District Police urgently searched Chuong's residence and workplace and seized many related electronic devices, electronic storage devices, and phones.

In 2018, 2019 and recently, Chuong posted and shared on his personal page 16 articles extracted into 101 pages of documents printed on A4 paper, containing negative, propagandistic, and subversive content, seriously affecting the rights and interests of the State, and the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals.

According to the appraisal results of the Department of Information and Communications of Can Tho City, it was concluded that 9/16 articles contained negative and destructive content, seriously affecting the rights and interests of the State, affecting the legitimate rights and interests of the Party organization, and affecting the honor, reputation, and dignity of individuals who are leaders of the Party and State.

At the investigation agency, Chuong admitted to frequently using his mobile phone to access Facebook to view information posted from unknown sources, without verifying the authenticity of the articles and sharing them on his personal page.

Specifically, in the article about the incident of resisting law enforcement officers that occurred on January 9 in Dong Tam commune, My Duc district, Hanoi, Chuong did not know how it happened but posted distorted information about the armed forces while performing their duties in the above incident.

Chuong himself admitted that in 2016 and 2017, he had repeatedly posted and shared articles with distorted and inaccurate content about urban aesthetics and issues related to Formosa, so he was invited by the authorities to be re-educated about his posting.
