Suspect charged for breaking into school and slashing 5 elementary school students
The man who used a knife to break into Dong Luong Primary School, stabbed a male student to death and injured 5 others was detained for 4 months.
Last night, Colonel Khuong Duy Oanh - Deputy Director of Thanh Hoa Provincial Police said that on the afternoon of May 4, the Investigation Police Agency decided to prosecute and issue a 4-month detention order for Do Manh Chieu Minh (25 years old, in Dong Luong commune, Lang Chanh district) for the crime of Murder.
The above decisions have been approved by the People's Procuracy at the same level. The cause of the murder has not been specifically announced by the authorities.

At around 8:45 a.m. on May 3, Minh broke into Dong Luong Primary School with a knife. After entering the school, Minh went to the second floor and rushed into class 5A, stabbing Le Huu Phuoc. On the way to escape, he stabbed 4 more students and a female teacher.
Phuoc was taken to the emergency room but died before arriving at the hospital. The five injured victims are now in stable condition.
After committing the crime, suspect Do Manh Chieu Minh jumped over the fence and escaped. After more than an hour of investigation, the police arrested Minh while he was hiding at the edge of a pond next to the forest in Tan Phuc commune, more than 4 km from the scene.

According to the police, initial test results showed that the suspect was negative for drugs. Therefore, the speculation that the perpetrator was high on drugs is unfounded.
Dong Luong Primary School has more than 400 students, the main campus (where the murder took place) has 10 classes with more than 230 students. The 6-block campus is located on a small road in Quen village, Dong Luong commune. The school is surrounded by a brick wall and part of it is fenced with barbed wire. At the time of the incident, there were 17 teachers and security guards in the school but they were unable to intervene in time.
Dong Luong Primary School Principal Le Thien Quang said "it is likely that the perpetrator climbed over the fence because during school hours the school gate is locked and guarded by security guards."
