Father charged with stabbing his 5-year-old son to death.

After killing his 5-year-old son, the father pulled out scissors intending to commit suicide but was stopped by others.

On December 15th, the Gia Lai Provincial Police Investigation Agency announced that it had issued a decision to initiate a criminal case, indict the suspect, and temporarily detain Vo Kim Minh (born in 1978; residing in Phu Dong Ward, Pleiku City) for the crime of murder.

According to the case file, Minh and Ms. Vo Thi Ngoc Dieu (born in 1978; residing in Hoi Thuong Ward, Pleiku City) were married and had a son, Vo Kim Phat (born in 2012). Around August 2017, the couple divorced.

Around 9 PM on December 11th, Minh went to a pub on Nguyen Tat Thanh Street in Pleiku City to look for his son. Upon arriving, he saw Phat playing outside and immediately picked him up. At that moment, Ms. Dieu and several family members rushed out to stop him, but Minh grabbed a knife and stabbed the boy in the left chest, breaking the blade. Phat died on the way to the hospital due to a punctured heart.

Afterward, Minh pulled out a pair of scissors with the intention of committing suicide, but he was restrained by those around him and handed over to the police.

According to many, Minh suffered a traumatic brain injury in a traffic accident a year ago. Before the incident, Minh had repeatedly wanted his nephew, Phat, to live with him, which led to conflicts with his ex-wife.
