Bank employee prosecuted for forging documents to embezzle 1.7 billion VND.
Taking advantage of her position as a bank credit officer, the woman forged numerous land and property documents to create loan applications in the names of customers, embezzling 1.7 billion VND in disbursed funds.
On July 29th, the Economic Police Department of Da Nang City Police served the decision to prosecute and temporarily detain Bui Thi Vi (32 years old, residing in Tam Xuan commune, Da Nang City) to investigate the act of "Forging seals and documents of agencies and organizationsand "Fraudulent appropriation of property".
According to the initial investigation, in 2024, Vi, then a credit officer at a bank branch in Nui Thanh (located in Nui Thanh commune, Da Nang city), ordered two forged land use right certificates, two land use right mortgage contracts, and two mortgage registration confirmation slips bearing the name of the Nui Thanh Branch of the Land Registration Office online.
After obtaining the forged documents, the female bank employee created two loan applications under the customers' names, thereby embezzling 1.7 billion VND in disbursed funds.
The incident is still under investigation.
