'Teacher' prosecuted for embezzling money from driving students
Using the tactic of guaranteeing a passing score on the theory test for car driving licenses, Tran Van Tri advertised and defrauded many students in various localities throughout Nghe An province.
To earn money, Trần Văn Trí (born in 1991), residing in Nam Đàn town, Nam Đàn district, under the guise of being a driving instructor at a driving school in Vinh City (Nghe An province), posted recruitment information promising a guaranteed pass on the theory test for those who registered for driving lessons through Trí; he also collected money for the training himself.car driving license, with amounts ranging from 12 to 20 million VND per person.
However, the money paid by the students to Tri was not registered or submitted to the center, but was used for personal expenses. After receiving money from many students, Tran Van Tri fled to the southern provinces.
Recognizing that Tran Van Tri's actions showed signs of committing the crime of "Fraudulent appropriation of property," causing public outrage, the Tan Ky District Police established a special investigation case. After a period of surveillance and the application of a comprehensive range of investigative measures, the Tan Ky District Police successfully cracked the case, arresting Tran Van Tri for "Fraudulent appropriation of property" while he was hiding in Bien Hoa City, Dong Nai Province.
On June 9, 2024, the Tan Ky District Police initiated legal proceedings against Tran Van Tri for the crime of "Fraudulent appropriation of property." At the police station, Tran Van Tri admitted to all his criminal acts. Initially, the police determined that using the aforementioned methods, from 2021 until his arrest, Tran Van Tri had defrauded and appropriated property from many students seeking to obtain a driver's license in the districts of Tan Ky, Thanh Chuong, Nam Dan, etc., totaling over 200 million VND.
Regarding the fraudulent activity involving obtaining a driver's license, at the end of May 2024, the Tan Ky District Police arrested and prosecuted Nguyen Van Hung (born in 1992), residing in Quang Xuong District, Thanh Hoa Province, for defrauding many people of more than 300 million VND.
Currently, the Tan Ky District Police are continuing to expand the investigation into the case. The police agency announces that anyone who is a victim of the Tran Van Tri case should quickly contact the Tan Ky District Police for cooperation and resolution.
