Prosecution of the case of 2 children who died at home

Colonel Luu Thanh Tin - Deputy Director of Kien Giang Provincial Police said that on the morning of October 1, Kien Giang Provincial Police issued a decision to prosecute the case related to the death of two children at a house in Hoa Loi commune, Giong Rieng district.

The two deceased children were PTL (born in 2016) and PTN (born in 20170), both from Hoa Binh hamlet, Hoa Loi commune. Their father was Pham Thanh Vu (38 years old) and mother was Nguyen Thanh Thao (22 years old), from Vi Thuy district, Hau Giang province.

At the investigation agency, Nguyen Thanh Thao initially admitted to killing her two biological children.

According to her testimony, Thao wanted to leave home but could not bear to leave her children behind. However, she was afraid that she would not be able to take care of them if she took them with her. When she saw her children crying, Thao used a pillow to press down on their faces until they suffocated to death. After that, Thao left home for Vi Thuy district, Hau Giang province.

Thao's mental state is currently unstable, the District Police Investigation Agency is taking her for a psychiatric evaluation. According to information from neighbors, the subject has suffered from depression for a long time and has little contact with the outside world.

Colonel Luu Thanh Tin, Deputy Director of Kien Giang Provincial Police, said that they will urgently investigate to resolve this case soon.
