Prosecution of stepmother abusing her husband's stepchild

Regarding the incident, on the morning of February 22, teachers at Loi An 2 Primary School (Loi An Commune, Tran Van Thoi District) discovered that LMT (grade 1A) had many unusual symptoms, so they checked and discovered many wounds on his body.

Through initial verification, LMT was beaten by her stepmother, HMN (residing in Cai Bat hamlet, Loi An commune) on her arms, back, legs and buttocks, leaving her with about 20 bruises.

The cause of the incident was because Ms. HMN suspected that her stepchild LMT had stolen 20,000 VND from Ms. N's father. Angry, Ms. HMN used a bamboo stick to hit her husband's stepchild in many places on his body.

Teachers of Loi An 2 Primary School quickly reported the incident to Loi An Commune People's Committee for verification and clarification.

Afterwards, Loi An Commune People's Committee worked with the family representative, Mr. LVC (T's father) and Ms. HMN, asking for a commitment to not let similar cases happen, to take good care of T, and to create favorable conditions for T. to participate in studying.

In response to the incident, the People's Committee of Tran Van Thoi district directed the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs to coordinate with the People's Committee of Loi An commune and relevant units to immediately deploy measures to protect and support child T.

In addition, the People's Committee of Tran Van Thoi district also assigned the district police to urgently direct the Loi An commune police to investigate the content of the case and soon have a conclusion; strictly handle violations, if there are enough elements to constitute a crime, request criminal handling according to the provisions of law.

As reported, in order to ensure the safety of the child, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province requested the People's Committee of Tran Van Thoi district to urgently deploy solutions to protect the safety of children, resolve the incident thoroughly and prevent it from arising again; at the same time, direct the authorities to strictly handle it according to regulations.
