Prosecution of the case, temporary detention of 3 subjects destroying forests of Pu Mat National Park

A representative of the People's Committee of Con Cuong district added that the three subjects were detained for violating regulations on forest exploitation and protection. All three subjects are locals of Mon Son commune.

In addition, the District Police Investigation Agency is summoning a number of subjects to continue the investigation and clarification.

Although there is no information about the individuals of these subjects, according to the People's Committee of Con Cuong district, it is quite similar to the suspicious information that Pu Mat National Park stated in the report sent to the competent authorities.

As reported by Nghe An Newspaper, in June 2019, while conducting forest protection patrols, Pu Mat National Park discovered illegal logging in 5 sub-areas 833, 836A, 825, 832, 834, in Mon Son commune.

On August 1, 2019, the Provincial People's Committee issued urgent document No. 5403/UBND-NN directing the People's Committee of Con Cuong district to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies to inspect, verify, handle and propose to competent authorities to handle according to legal regulations the case of illegal forest exploitation in Mon Son commune.

Authorities have conducted a comprehensive inspection of five sub-areas where illegal logging occurred, and determined that 99 trees had been felled and were scattered in many places.
