Prosecution of Vinaca cancer drug case made from bamboo charcoal powder
After discovering two facilities producing bamboo charcoal powder to make Vinaca cancer medicine CO3.2, Hai Phong police decided to initiate a case for investigation.
On April 20, Major General Do Huu Ca - Director of Hai Phong City Police, said that the Investigation Police Department has just issued a decision to prosecute the case of "Production and trafficking of counterfeit food, foodstuffs, and food additives", which occurred at the production facility of Dao Thi Chuc (residing in Tien Bo residential group, Ngoc Son ward, Kien An district, Hai Phong), related to the Vinaca brand.

According to Major General Do Huu Ca, the functional departments are urgently clarifying the production and consumption chain of Vinaca company's products, which were initially determined to be made from bamboo charcoal powder.
Previously, on January 15, the Kien An District interdisciplinary inspection team inspected Ms. Chuc's production facility. Here, the authorities discovered that the facility had 10 workers creating capsules, labeling, and packaging products under the direct management of Dao Thi Chuc.
The inspection team seized products such as: Vinaca cancer CO3.2, Vinaca Vi5, Vinaca Activated Carbon multipurpose, Vinaca Baby Vi6, Vinaca trace element, Vinaca multipurpose and some other unlabeled powders and liquids.
The owner of the facility, Dao Thi Chuc, could not present the papers, records, and documents proving the legality of the above production and could not present invoices and documents proving the origin of raw materials and goods at the facility.

Chuc's testimony at the investigation agency showed that he borrowed legal documents from Hong An Phong Company Limited, whose director is Nguyen Van Tuan (33 years old, residing in Hoang Lau village, Hong Phong commune, An Duong, Hai Phong).
In early April, the Hai Phong Department of Health continued to inspect the facility headed by Nguyen Van Tuan and discovered that it was producing bamboo charcoal powder. According to Tuan, the charcoal powder would be transferred to Vinaca Company, headed by Ms. Chuc’s husband, Nguyen Xuan Thu.
