On September 14, the Supreme People's Procuracy's Investigation Agency issued a decision to initiate a criminal case to investigate the act of irresponsibility allowing a detainee to escape (according to Article 301 of the 1999 Penal Code) to investigate the case of two death row inmates escaping from the T16 detention camp, Ministry of Public Security.

Based on the inspection results, the investigation agency determined that a number of prison officers and soldiers at T16 detention camp - Ministry of Public Security were irresponsible in the process of managing, supervising and guarding prisoners, allowing two death row inmates Le Van Tho (aka Tho "sút", 37 years old) and Nguyen Van Tinh (28 years old) to escape.

As reported, Nguyen Van Tinh was sentenced to death for illegal drug trafficking and Le Van Tho - sentenced to death for illegal drug trafficking, murder (20 years in prison) and fraud (10 years in prison), the total sentence is death.

Both were detained at T16 detention camp, Ministry of Public Security.

Initial investigation results determined that Tinh and Tho took advantage of a loophole, broke the shackles, dug into the wall of cell number 3, area D and escaped from T16 detention camp, Ministry of Public Security on the night of September 10 and early morning of September 11.

The Supreme People's Procuracy's investigation agency is continuing to investigate and clarify the case for handling according to the law; at the same time, it is coordinating with the authorities to capture the two death row inmates.

Hanoi City Police have issued a nationwide arrest warrant for these two death row inmates.
