According to the police, at noon on December 16, a worker of a garbage collection company was collecting garbage in front of the row of boarding houses in group 30 (Binh Thuan 2 neighborhood, Thuan Giao ward) when he discovered a black, tightly tied nylon bag inside. He opened it and found a male head, so he called everyone to report it to the police.
Upon receiving the report, Binh Duong Provincial Police quickly conducted an investigation of the scene. At the scene, the police seized a dark blue bag placed inside a styrofoam box, inside were two nylon bags containing a human head and other body parts.
By the afternoon of the same day, the Thuan Giao Ward Police (Thuan An Town, Binh Duong) received information from the public who knew a man named Nhi - real name Tran Thanh Tu (37 years old, from Soc Trang) who was staying on Thuan Giao 5 Street (Binh Thuan 1 Quarter, Thuan Giao Ward). When he saw the picture of the beheaded victim on the Internet and thought he looked like Nhi, he reported it to the ward police.
While the police were still investigating, on the night of December 17, some residents of the boarding house on Thuan Giao 5 Street detected a foul odor in the garbage area in front of the boarding house and reported it to the authorities. The police then conducted an inspection and discovered human body parts in the trash bin in front of the boarding house.
From the information collected, the police learned that on the night of December 15, at room number 7 of the boarding house owned by Tu and his wife, Hang Thi Hong Diem (32 years old, from Hau Giang), a neighbor heard the sound of arguing and fighting between the couple. Since then, Mr. Tu has not appeared.
Checking Diem and Tu's room, the police discovered many dried bloodstains on some of the items in the room. From the evidence collected, the police determined that the body parts confiscated belonged to Tran Thanh Tu and the suspect in the murder was Hang Thi Hong Diem, the victim's wife. The police then invited Diem to come in for questioning. Diem confessed that she had murdered her husband.
According to the suspect's testimony, on the night of December 15, due to a previous conflict, after coming home from drinking, Tu beat and threatened to kill his wife. While beating his wife, Tu used a knife to slash her, but Diem dodged and grabbed the knife and slashed Tu in the neck. After being slashed, Tu threw Diem to the floor, used his feet to hit his wife and said: "If I die, that's it, but if I live, you die too." Hearing that, Diem continued to attack her husband until the victim lay still.
To avoid detection, Diem used a knife to cut her husband's body into many parts and put them in plastic bags in the rented room. The next morning, Diem took these plastic bags and threw them in many garbage dumps in the rented houses.
Colonel Tran Van Chinh said that up to this point, the police have not yet determined whether there are any accomplices in the murder case./.
