Prosecution of truck collision with passenger car that killed 13 people
Gia Lai police have opened a case to investigate the cause of a truck driving in the wrong direction crashing into a passenger car, killing 13 people two days ago.
On the afternoon of May 9, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Ngoc Anh - Chief of Staff of Gia Lai Police - said that the unit had initiated a case of Violation of regulations on road traffic control causing serious consequences to investigate the cause of the accident in which a truck crashed into a passenger car, killing 13 people on National Highway 14 two mornings ago.

According to Gia Lai Provincial Police,The initial test of truck driver Vo Van Quy (27 years old, from Binh Dinh) was negative for drugs. However, the investigation agency is taking samples again for a second test of this driver.
Ms. Quach Thi Phuc (wife of the truck driver) said that since the accident, she has not been able to talk to her husband because the driver is still in a coma. She affirmed, "My husband does not use drugs, he only smokes cigarettes."
"I don't know the cause, but my husband's fault is clear. On behalf of my family, I would like to apologize to the victims of the accident," said driver Quy's wife.
Early two days ago, a truck driven by Quy carrying 20 tons of fertilizer from Binh Dinh to Chu Puh district, Gia Lai was also on board. Dang Duy Phuc (23 years old, Binh Dinh).
At more than 4am the same day, the truck broke the barrier and rushed through Duc Long Gia Lai toll station. After 20km maintaining a speed of about 105km/h, when reaching Chu Se town, the truck rushed into the opposite direction (a section with a median strip), hitting head-on a passenger car carrying 43 people.
The accident killed 12 people on the passenger bus and the truck driver. Currently, 5 of the 32 injured victims have been discharged from the hospital, while the most seriously injured person is the truck driver who is receiving intensive care.
