Block leader lends people more than 100 million to build cultural house

(Baonghean.vn) - That is Mr. Ngo Quang Tiep, block leader of block 9, Quynh Xuan ward, Hoang Mai town, who spent more than 100 million VND out of his own pocket to advance the construction of a block cultural house as a place for people to gather.

Mr. Ngo Quang Tiep was elected by the people to hold the position of block leader of block 9, Quynh Xuan ward when the previous block executive committee had many violations in spending the block's economic resources. Especially in spending the people's contributions for other purposes, making the people extremely indignant.

In May 2015, after being elected as the block leader, he immediately started the construction of the unfinished cultural house. First of all, to have the funding for the construction, he "collected the debt" by all means the funding that the old block leader had collected from the people. Second, he organized a meeting with the people, discussed the method and scale of building the cultural house, and the people agreed that in addition to the amount of 990 thousand VND/person, collected in 3 rice crops, each household also agreed to contribute 250 thousand VND.

At the same time, he met with individuals and businesses to mobilize more funding to build a spacious and well-equipped cultural house, meeting the people's expectations. After much deliberation, the funding was still not enough because some households were still late in paying, and the 60 million VND in support from the town budget was only received after the project was completed and finalized. Finally, putting the people's interests first, Mr. Tiep proactively spent more than 100 million VND out of his own pocket, allowing the hamlet to advance the construction, then collect the contributions from the people and the town's support would pay the debt later.

Spacious 9th grade cultural house

With his personal determination, after only 4 months of construction, the cultural house of grade 9 was completed on the day of national unity at the end of 2015. It is impossible to describe the excitement of the people in the block when they came to attend this important festival. Everyone's eyes lit up with pride because they had contributed a part of their effort and money to build the common house of the whole people today.

Mr. Tiep shared: "With such high determination, we can create cooperation from organizations, individuals, and households. Only then will block 9 have a spacious cultural house as a meeting place to discuss many important decisions of the block."

Furniture and facilities ensure good community life for the people

Not only correcting the mistakes of the previous executive committee, Mr. Tiep also determined that as the head of the block, he must gather the people, mobilize all resources among the people, to build works for the people. With 212 households, 1,080 people, the economy mainly focuses on two key sectors: industrial mining and agricultural production.

He determined that in order for the village economy to develop, it was necessary to resolve the problems affecting production. To solve the problem of water shortage in the fields, he contacted the irrigation staff of the agricultural cooperative and Hoang Mai irrigation enterprise to promptly regulate the water source, ensuring the people's production. When the rice crop was damaged by pests and diseases, he visited the fields and advised the people to have a plan to prevent them... The work of the block leader for the people was always recognized and responded to by the people of the block, so the movements of the block achieved many results.
