Do not convert other types of vehicles into passenger cars.
That is the regulation issued by the Ministry of Transport in Circular 29/2012/TT-BGTVT regulating the renovation of road motor vehicles.
The above Circular stipulates that other cars cannot be converted into passenger cars (people-carrying cars); it is not allowed to convert and change the purpose of use for motor vehicles that have been used for more than 15 years, imported special-purpose cars within 5 years and imported refrigerated trucks within 3 years from the date of registration license plate issuance; it is not allowed to convert passenger cars into trucks of all kinds, except for the case of converting passenger cars with 16 seats or less into VAN trucks...
In addition, each motor vehicle during its use may only be modified or changed in one of the two main assemblies, the engine or the frame, and no more than three of the six systems and assemblies: 1- Power transmission system (clutch, gearbox, propeller shaft and main transmission); 2- Movement system (wheels, passive axle); 3- Suspension system; 4- Brake system; 5- Steering system; 6- Cabin, body or cargo box.
The Ministry of Transport emphasized that the renovation work must be carried out at a manufacturing facility registered for the business of renovating motor vehicles and must be inspected and granted a Certificate of Technical Safety and Quality.
The above regulations are effective from October 1, 2012.
