According to information from the Dien Chau district government, the forest fire in Dien Phu commune was successfully controlled at around 7:00 p.m. on July 13. This was a great effort by the local government, functional forces, and people to prevent the fire from spreading in the dark of night. If it had happened, firefighting would have been extremely difficult.
During the fire, Dien Chau district directed the forces to clear the firebreak, using tools such as tree branches, knives, fire extinguishers, and blowers to extinguish the fire. Notified and mobilized people to evacuate the area near the forest, and arranged forces to guard houses to prevent the fire from spreading to people's houses.
The successful control of the fire, in addition to the efforts of the locality, also had the enthusiastic support and assistance of forces such as Dien Thanh Border Guard Station, District Police, Dien Chau District Military Command, Mobile Forest Ranger Team, Forest Ranger Sub-Department of Region 2, Nghi Loc District... and forces of 5 neighboring communes including: Dien An, Dien Trung, Dien Thinh, Dien Loc, Dien Loi.
Although the fire has been extinguished, Dien Chau district continues to direct forces to keep watch, extinguish the fire, and prevent it from re-igniting, especially in a pine forest area with a thick layer of ground cover, which poses a high risk.
Currently, the damaged area is being counted, the cause of the fire is being investigated and clarified by the authorities.
The Steering Committee of the Sustainable Forestry Development Program of Nghe An Province for the period 2021-2025 warned that the forest fire level in Nghe An reached level 5, an extremely dangerous level by July 15. Therefore, localities with forest areas need to proactively take strict measures to prevent and fight forest fires to avoid forest fires during the peak season.
