Do not be subjective with dengue fever
In 2024, the number of dengue fever cases decreased significantly compared to previous years. However, people cannot be subjective about this disease.
Complex developments
Since the beginning of the year, with complicated weather developments, the epidemic hasdengue feverhas broken out in many provinces and cities across the country. In Hai Phong city, as of November 1, there were 19,812 cases, 23.5 times higher than the same period in 2023.

Dengue fever is an acute infectious disease caused by the Dengue virus transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes. This disease is assessed by the World Health Organization as one of the top 10 threats to public health. The World Health Organization also assesses Vietnam as one of the countries suffering serious consequences from dengue fever.
Previously, in Vietnam, dengue fever peaked once every 10 years. However, this has now changed. In just 4 years (2019-2022), Vietnam has recorded 2 major dengue fever peaks with a total of more than 661,000 cases, including thousands of severe cases. Currently, the disease is becoming more and more serious because it no longer appears cyclically but has become an annual epidemic. Dengue fever has posed a significant challenge for disease prevention and treatment.

In Nghe An, Dengue fever is also an annual disease. In 2024, the number of dengue fever cases decreased sharply compared to previous years, with a total of 214 cases, including 108 internal cases and 106 imported cases.
Distribution of internal cases, including: Dien Chau district has 56 cases, Quynh Luu district has 21 cases, Hoang Mai town has 11 cases, Vinh city has 3 cases, Con Cuong district has 10 cases, Thanh Chuong district has 2 cases, Hung Nguyen district has 2 cases, Nghia Dan district has 1 case, Yen Thanh district has 1 case, Anh Son district has 1 case.
According to Dr. Chu Trong Trang - Director of Nghe An Province Center for Disease Control: Nghe An Province has been doing a good job in disease prevention.pandemicin general and dengue fever in particular. However, we cannot be subjective because of that. The weather is still very complicated, this is also a favorable factor for the Aedes mosquito - the main agent of disease transmission to develop.
Need to proactively prevent
Dengue fever is an acute infectious disease. The disease is caused by the Dengue virus. Dengue fever is transmitted from person to person by the Aedes Aegypti mosquito. The disease often appears and causes epidemics during the rainy season, in densely populated areas with poor environmental sanitation.

Anyone can get sick. When there are unusual signs of health, signs of illness, people need to go to medical facilities for timely diagnosis and treatment; do not self-treat at home.
Dengue fever can be completely cured without any sequelae if treated properly according to the instructions of the Ministry of Health. Currently, the Ministry of Health has approved the dengue fever vaccine and this is considered a solution to help complete the current dengue fever prevention strategy.
Vaccines are highly effective and are a proactive and specific disease prevention measure for the majority. Research results show that dengue fever vaccines are safe and can be used for children.
To prevent the disease, in addition to vaccination, people need to proactively implement solutions to avoid mosquito bites: when sleeping, people should sleep under mosquito nets, impregnated with chemicals; spray mosquito repellent and burn mosquito coils in the house. In addition, it is necessary to clean the house, clear bushes around the house and collect waste, unclog drains; kill larvae in water containers, and turn over unused water containers; regularly clean and clear stagnant water.

Everyone needs to remember: Without mosquitoes, there would be no dengue fever. Mosquito eradication not only eliminates the intermediate factor that transmits the disease from sick people to healthy people; it also eliminates the pathogen when mosquitoes have the ability to transmit the Dengue virus to the next generation.
Dr. Chu Trong Trang stated: Localities need to organize campaigns to kill mosquito larvae, remove waste items that accumulate water with the message "spend 10 minutes each week to kill mosquito larvae" in households; and ventilate living and working places.
If warning signs appear such as pain in the right lower quadrant; persistent vomiting or vomiting many times a day; unusual bleeding: nosebleeds, bleeding gums, subcutaneous bleeding (bruises, red spots), blood in the urine; fatigue, restlessness, or unusual discomfort; cold hands and feet, rapid pulse, sweating - signs that the body is in shock; little or no urination for many hours... the patient should be taken to a medical facility immediately to avoid serious developments.
