'Without Vietnam's support, it would be difficult for Cambodia to overthrow the Khmer Rouge regime'

On December 2, speaking to the press on the occasion of the 44th anniversary of the founding of the Kampuchean United Front for National Salvation (December 2, 1978 - December 2, 2022), now the Cambodian Solidarity Front for the Development of the Fatherland, Mr. Sok Eysan, Central Committee member and spokesman of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), emphasized that without the event of December 2, 1978, there would be no victory on January 7, 1979, and there would be no Paris Agreement on Cambodia and we would not have today. He emphasized that this is considered an important historical milestone for Cambodia.

Mr. Sok Aysan said that under the Khmer Rouge genocidal regime, the Cambodian people suffered a lot and were on the brink of extinction. In response to the Cambodian people's plea, patriotic Cambodians - members of the Cambodian People's Party - stood up to find a way to save the people.

According to Mr. Sok Aysan, Vietnam's assistance to Cambodia in protecting its people and overthrowing the Khmer Rouge genocide regime at that time was extremely meaningful. It was a sincere and heartfelt assistance and the Cambodian people will forever remember: "Without the help and support from Vietnamese volunteer soldiers, it would be very difficult for us to overthrow the Khmer Rouge genocide regime. We are Buddhists, moral people, so we cannot forget this great favor."
