Hijackers abandon plan to hijack plane in exchange for a few beers

It took months, even years, to plan a hijacking, but the hijacker agreed to surrender for just a glass of beer.

On June 21, 1985, a man carrying a weapon caused chaos on a Braathens SAFE Boeing 737 carrying 116 passengers and 5 crew members traveling from Trondheim Airport, Vaernes to Oslo, Norway.

Tired of his current life, the hijacker asked to speak to the Norwegian Prime Minister and Justice Minister.

When the plane landed, all the passengers were released while the five crew members were still held hostage. But in the end, after an hour of negotiations, the hijacker decided to release all the remaining hostages in exchange for a few beers.

This was recorded as the first hijacking in Norwegian history, but fortunately no shots were fired and no casualties were recorded.

However, this is just one of many bizarre hijackings with unbelievable reasons for hijacking and stopping hijacking in the history of world aviation.

Pilots fly aerobatic maneuvers to fight off hijackers

A serious mistake at work caused Auburn Calloway, a 42-year-old Federal Express aviation engineer, to decide to quit his job and end his life.

But not wanting his death to be in vain, Calloway planned to stage a plane crash so his family could collect $2.5 million in life insurance.

Thinking and doing, on April 7, 1994, the 42-year-old aviation engineer brought a guitar containing a hammer and a small fish spear onto a plane departing from San Jose, California. Calloway's plan was to use the fish spear to disable the cockpit voice recorder, then use the hammer to attack the crew to make the incident look like an accident instead of a hijacking.

But Calloway's efforts were thwarted by the quick thinking of a crew member. While the hijacker was struggling with the captain, he turned the plane into a somersault in the air, causing Calloway to lose balance and be subdued shortly thereafter.

After the incident, the Federal Express engineer was sentenced to life in prison while the crew was hailed as heroes and awarded the Medal of Honor, the highest award a civilian pilot can receive.

For nearly four decades now, DB Cooper and the fate of this mysterious robber have remained a mystery that has puzzled FBI investigators.

Portrait of the most notorious hijacker in American aviation history.

In 1971, DB Cooper hijacked and threatened to blow up a Boeing 727 passenger plane if Northwest Orient Airlines did not pay him $200,000.

After receiving the full amount, Cooper parachuted out of the plane with the bag of money and disappeared without a trace. The name he used to buy the plane ticket was Dan Cooper, but investigators confirmed that it was a fake ID.

Nine years later, an eight-year-old boy found $5,800 in cash near the Columbia River and turned it in to police. The serial numbers on the bills matched the serial numbers of the money DBCorper had stolen.

However, until now, the identity of the hijacker of the century is still a big mystery to investigators and public opinion.

The hijacker even took pictures with the people he held hostage.

Carrying a bomb belt, he forced the crew to land in Cyprus, Egypt.

Passengers on the plane were terrified. They feared they might be victims of a suicide bombing planned by a notorious terrorist organization.

But everyone was surprised when the plane landed at Larnaca International Airport in Cyprus because the hijacker only asked to speak to his ex-wife.

After several hours, Cypriot police subdued the hijacker and persuaded him to release the hostages in batches. Shortly thereafter, Mustafa surrendered and all the hostages left the plane safely./.
