During her years living in Hoang Tru, she worked in the fields and wove cloth, supporting her husband's education and raising their children. In 1894, her husband, Nguyen Sinh Sac, passed the Bachelor's degree examination, the highest degree in Nghe An province. In 1895, Hoang Thi Loan and her husband moved to Hue to support his studies and take care of the family. In 1900, she gave birth to their fourth child, Nguyen Sinh Xin. Due to the extremely difficult living conditions, Hoang Thi Loan fell seriously ill and passed away on the 22nd day of the 12th lunar month of the Year of the Rat (February 10, 1901) in Hue. She was buried by the local people at Ban Mountain, part of the Tam Tang mountain range in Hue.

The tomb of Mrs. Hoang Thi Loan is a structure of immense cultural and spiritual significance, therefore its design required solemnity, simplicity, a strong national identity, and a connection with nature while remaining striking. The main motif of the structure is the lotus flower – a symbol of her hometown, Kim Lien – representing the beauty and nobility of her life.

The Hoàng Thị Loan mausoleum complex comprises several structures, with the tomb itself being the main one. Her remains are preserved in place. The tomb is designed as a stylized lotus flower, complete with a lotus base, calyx, and heart. The tomb measures 3.27 meters in length, 2.265 meters in width, and 1.88 meters in height. The base and body of the tomb are made of imported Indian granite. The stylized lotus calyx on top is made of white Yên Bái stone. The lid, representing the pistil of the lotus flower, is carved with a stylized "Longevity" character, symbolizing the yin and yang of heaven and earth according to folk beliefs.

Behind it is a relief sculpture made of smooth white Yen Bai stone (divided into 5 blocks). The relief is crafted in the style of ancient scrolls, with distinct parts: the base, the body, and the top. The base is simply designed. The body is intricately designed with delicate patterns. The main idea of the decorative details is the image of a lotus pond, cast in relief. Above the lotus pond is the image of "Nine Clouds Gathering," meaning nine clouds converging, symbolizing sacredness and the convergence of the earth's spiritual energy. A border of stylized lotus petals runs around the relief. Finally, the top of the relief bears the inscription "Tomb of Mrs. Hoang Thi Loan."

The paths leading up and down to the tomb are built along the mountainside on either side. The path up has 266 steps to the semicircular courtyard. The path down has 262 steps from the semicircular courtyard to the gate, all made of solid stone. From the semicircular courtyard to the tomb, there are 33 steps, corresponding to the age of Hoang Thi Loan at the time of her death.
