Vinh City is bright with sparkling lights and new high-rise buildings. Standing out in the city center are Ho Chi Minh Square and two regulating lakes. Vinh is a first-class urban area under Nghe An province, one of the three largest cities in the North Central region (along with Hue and Thanh Hoa). Vinh City belongs to Ke Vang region or was formerly known as Ke Vinh. Later, it was successively changed to Ke Vinh, Vinh Giang, Vinh Doanh, Vinh Thi. On October 20, 1898, King Thanh Thai issued an edict to establish Vinh town along with the towns of Thanh Hoa, Hue, Fai-Fo (today's Hoi An), Quy Nhon and Phan Thiet. Cua Lo is the most famous coastal tourist town in Nghe An and is one of the familiar destinations for tourists nationwide. Cua Lo town was established on August 29, 1994 on the basis of separating Cua Lo town and 4 communes: Nghi Thu, Nghi Huong, Nghi Hoa, Nghi Hai. Dien Chau is one of the districts with the largest population in Nghe An. From above, you can see the modern, bustling life in the center of Dien Chau town with high-rise buildings and neatly planned, beautiful neighborhoods. Cau Giat town is impressive with the overpass intersection over National Highway 1A. Cau Giat is the administrative center of Quynh Luu district - the most populous locality in Nghe An after Vinh city. Although some communes are in the midland mountainous areas such as Quynh Chau, Quynh Tam, Quynh Thang, most of the communes of Quynh Luu are located in the narrow plains along the East Sea.
