Recommendations for Vietnamese citizens when traveling to Russia

The General Department of Tourism (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) has just sent an official dispatch to international travel agencies requesting to strengthen management of bringing tourists to Russia.

This is a quick action by the General Department of Tourism in response to the phenomenon of Vietnamese citizens being denied entry into Russia with tourist visas.

International travel agencies need to choose reliable and reputable Russian partners to organize tours to Russia.

Specifically, on July 20, the General Department of Tourism received telegram No. 254 from the Vietnamese Embassy in the Russian Federation, reflecting the situation that many Vietnamese citizens entering Russia with tourist visas were denied entry. This has created negative public opinion, affecting the rights of Vietnamese citizens.

Russian authorities said: Most cases of refusal of entry were due to trying to enter Russia illegally with tourist invitations from "ghost" companies or not being able to prove the purpose of entry was tourism (no return ticket, no travel itinerary, no hotel reservation, no proof of finances...).

Accordingly, the General Department of Tourism requested international travel agencies organizing tours to Russia to implement a number of requirements to limit the situation of Vietnamese citizens traveling to Russia being denied entry as recently. Specifically, international travel agencies should choose reliable and reputable Russian partners to organize tours to Russia.

Before organizing tours to Russia, Vietnamese travel companies need to clearly understand the purpose of entry, develop a detailed itinerary, book round-trip air tickets for Vietnamese tourists, and instruct Vietnamese tourists that before traveling to Russia, they need to prove their financial capacity, and have the phone number and address of the hotel or travel company that will receive them as required by Russia.

On the other hand, the General Department of Tourism also requested that Vietnamese travel companies take measures to manage tourists during their stay in Russia and guide Vietnamese tourists to comply with the laws of the host country./.
