Recommendations for prevention of MERS - CoV epidemic

(Baonghean.vn) - To proactively prevent the Mers-CoV epidemic, the Ministry of Health strongly recommends that people and the community implement the following measures:

1. Avoid unnecessary travel to countries with epidemics in the Middle East. Before traveling, you should find out information about the epidemic situation at the destination to proactively take measures to prevent infection for yourself.

2. Maintain personal hygiene, wash hands regularly with soap, gargle with mouthwash.

3. Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, preferably with a tissue or handkerchief to reduce the spread of respiratory secretions.

4. Limit direct contact with people with acute respiratory infections; When necessary, contact with sick people must wear medical masks properly and keep distance when in contact.

5. Avoid contact with animals and pets. If contact occurs, wash hands with soap.

6. People returning from the Middle East region, within 14 days if showing signs of acute respiratory infection such as fever above 38°C, cough, difficulty breathing or having close contact with someone with the above signs, should immediately go to the nearest medical facility for consultation, examination and testing for MERS - CoV.
