Kia K2 - new sedan competing with Mazda2 in China

The compact sedan is based on the new Rio specifically for the Chinese market, and will go on sale from November.

The K2 is the new name in Kia's K-series product line, previously the Korean car company had the K3, K5, K7 and K9. Developed specifically for the Chinese market, the K2 is based on the platform of the new Rio, the model just introduced at the 2016 Paris Motor Show.

The front of the car is designed with a sporty front end with a refined tiger nose grille and projector headlights that are different from the Kia Rio. The front bumper is aggressive, with air intakes integrated with fog lights and LED daytime running lights. The side profile is also redesigned. The L-shaped LED taillights are connected together, and the rear bumper is highlighted with black details.

The interior is simply designed, using plastic details, imitation chrome, leather seats. 3-spoke sports steering wheel. Kia also uses some details on the dashboard similar to its sibling Rio hatchback, except for the clock cluster.

The new K2 does not use the 1.0 T-GDI turbocharged engine of the 2017 Rio, the Korean car company replaced it with a 1.4-liter engine with a capacity of 107 horsepower and a 1.6-liter with a capacity of 123 horsepower. Both are equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission, according to Autohome.

According to plan, Kia K2 2017 will be sold from November 2016, price has not been announced. Kia K2 will compete with Mazda2 sedan in China.
