Kia Picanto X-Line will be present at Frankfurt exhibition

Picanto X-Line will be equipped with a 1.0-liter T-GDI petrol engine that can produce 100 horsepower and maximum torque of 172 Nm.

The third generation of the Picanto (Morning) will be known as the Picanto X-Line. It comes with a 1.0-liter T-GDI petrol engine that can produce 100 horsepower at 4,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 172 Nm at 1,500 - 4,500 rpm. This engine is also found in the Kia Cee'd and Rio models.

This engine enables the new Picanto to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 10.1 seconds. Furthermore, it consumes just 4.5 liters/100 km with relatively low CO2 emissions of 104 g/km (NEDC).

According to Kia, this Picanto X-Line is inspired by their SUV and crossover models like the Kia Sportage and Sorento. This is evident in its styling, which features an angular design thanks to black plastic cladding, a bold front bumper, and lime green fog lamp trim.

Not only that, the X-Line also has a raised ride height of 156 mm from the ground, 15 mm higher than the standard Picanto version. Other exterior parts include 16-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights and fog lights, a rear camera and a shark fin antenna.

Kia Picanto X-Line has a rather angular design, giving a strong feeling.

Inside, the Picanto X-Line gets a 7-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone charger, USB ports, and aluminum pedals. The car also gets a flat-bottom steering wheel like the Picanto GT Line.

Next up is the safety equipment, the Picanto comes with six airbags as standard (plus an optional driver's knee airbag), a high-strength steel frame (AHSS) and Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) with ESC. There's also autonomous emergency braking (AEB) and forward collision warning system (FCWS) along with a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS).

The car interior is sporty and modern.

“We launched the new Picanto in Europe earlier this year and its sales in the first half of 2017 increased by 23% to 31,827 units and globally it is one of our best-selling cars. The Picanto X-Line will help Kia continue that momentum,” said Michael Cole, CEO of Kia Motors Europe.

This model will appear at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2017 from September 12./.
