Daisy season is good, price is good. |
Daisies in Nhat Tan are grown in two ways: intercropping with peach blossoms and planting in separate beds. The fields of daisies stretch hundreds of meters along the banks of the Red River, promising farmers hundreds of millions of dong.
Ms. Nguyet (a daisy grower in Nhat Tan) said: "This year, the daisies bloomed about a week later than usual because of the prolonged heat and late cold. However, this year's weather is favorable, so the daisies have many branches, many flowers, and the yield of daisies has also increased and is more beautiful."
"This year, the price of flowers has increased compared to last year. A large bouquet of flowers is estimated to contain about 40 small bouquets. Each small bouquet is sold to traders for 40,000 - 50,000 VND. With nearly 1 hectare, this year, we earn nearly a hundred million VND," Ms. Nguyet added.
In addition to selling flowers, in recent years people have had extra income thanks to the booming garden photography service. Each gardener charges an average of 20,000 VND per person for a photo session.

Many families changed their lives thanks to growing this flower. |
Compared to previous years, this year's daisies bloomed about a week later due to the sunny weather, but this has made the daisies bloom bigger, more beautiful and more expensive.
Currently, the flowers are in full bloom, every day, Ms. Quyen cuts about 30 large bunches to sell to traders, cutting as much as she can, selling all of them. Many traders have to order in advance to have goods. Daisies usually bloom for only 10 days and then wither, so Nhat Tan residents try to harvest them quickly to sell. Most flower growers in Nhat Tan often intercrop daisies next to straight peach blossom beds to take advantage of vacant land. Some people also take advantage of their free time and effort to bring daisies home, sort them, and sell them in small bunches to earn more money. This small, pure white flower has a rustic, pure, and charming beauty that is very unique to Hanoi's winter./.
