Speaking to Zing.vn reporters after the People's Council meeting on the morning of June 16, Mr. Huynh Thanh Tao, Deputy Secretary and Chairman of the People's Council of Hau Giang province, said that since the afternoon of June 15, Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh had submitted a request not to participate in the re-election as Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for the 2016-2021 term. After that, the Central Committee had an opinion to remove Mr. Thanh from the list of candidates for re-election, so the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee unanimously agreed with Mr. Thanh's request.

"This morning, the People's Council only elected 3 Vice Chairmen of the People's Committee. Thus, Mr. Thanh is currently the former Vice Chairman of the province and a member of the Provincial Party Committee, so the upcoming assignment of tasks will be decided by the Provincial Party Committee," said Mr. Tao.
