Independent educational quality assessment at Vinh University

(Baonghean.vn) - For four days, from March 25th to 29th, a team of experts from the Center for Educational Quality Accreditation - Vietnam National University, Hanoi will conduct an official assessment of educational quality at Vinh University.

Vinh University is one of the first 19 universities nationwide to have implemented an external evaluation program according to the university education quality assessment process of the Ministry of Education and Training.

The main objective is for universities to achieve certain standards in training and continuously improve and enhance the quality of education, meeting the requirements of employers and ensuring the rights of students.

Registering for external evaluation also serves as a basis for the University to enhance its standing, promote itself, and attract students in the competitive environment of higher education. Through this, it will gradually implement the plan to make Vinh University a member of the ASEAN University Network (AUN) by 2019.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Professor, Dr. Nguyen Quy Thanh – Director of the Center for Quality Accreditation – Vietnam National University, Hanoi, also affirmed that quality accreditation is an important mechanism for restructuring the network of universities in Vietnam.

Quality assessment will serve as the basis for classifying universities and granting them autonomy, including autonomy in student admissions (universities can set their own minimum admission scores).

Currently, quality assurance is no longer just theoretical but has become a practical reality. Schools that fail to meet accreditation standards for three consecutive years will face disciplinary action from the Ministry of Education and Training.

According to the plan, the external evaluation will be conducted over four days, from March 25th to 29th. During this time, the expert team will conduct interviews, review documents, inspect facilities, and observe some of the school's activities.
