Inspect the medical waste management practices at the facility.

(Baonghean)The Nghe An Department of Health has established a team to inspect and handle medical waste at public and private hospitals.

The inspection revealed that regarding hazardous medical waste, most district-level general hospitals have solid waste incinerators; some units without incinerators have collected waste at designated locations. Public hospitals currently lack liquid waste treatment systems, or if they do have them, they are often dilapidated, damaged, or non-functional (and if functional, they do not meet the permitted standards). Inspections at private hospitals in the city showed that they have wastewater treatment systems that are functioning well (Saigon Eye Hospital, Dong Au Hospital, Cua Dong Hospital), while other hospitals use incomplete or improper procedures.

Inspections at Vinh City General Hospital, the Tuberculosis and Lung Disease Hospital, and the Provincial General Hospital revealed that although they have medical waste treatment systems that comply with regulations, the inspection team requested that the hospitals improve the operation, use, maintenance, and upkeep of the waste treatment systems to ensure their proper functioning. Monthly checks of technical indicators should be conducted to identify and address any necessary repairs, thereby ensuring environmental hygiene and preventing negative impacts on public health.
