Checking the progress of the project to restore the memorial site of comrade Phan Dang Luu
(Baonghean.vn) - On January 17, in preparation for the 120th anniversary of the birth of comrade Phan Dang Luu (May 5, 1902 - May 5, 2022), a working delegation of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department in coordination with the Department of Culture and Sports and the Relic Management Board of Nghe An province visited Hoa Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district to inspect the preparation work for the project to restore, embellish and build a memorial site and memorial house for him.

Born on May 5, 1902 in Hoa Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, comrade Phan Dang Luu was the eldest son of Phan Dang Du, a patriotic Confucian scholar, and Tran Thi Lieu, daughter of Tran Danh Tieu. He was a revolutionary activist, holding many positions in the Communist Party of Vietnam; a member of the Party Central Committee (1937), a member of the Party Central Committee Standing Committee (1938). He was also a steadfast, courageous communist, an experienced, talented, and virtuous leader, who made many positive contributions to the work of Party organization and building and the common cause of the Vietnamese revolution.
In 1939, comrade Phan Dang Luu was mobilized by the Central Committee to work in the South and was assigned to be in charge of the revolutionary movement in the provinces of the South. In October 1940, he secretly traveled from the South to the North to convene and organize the Central Committee Conference of the Party. In November 1940, in Dinh Bang, Bac Ninh, he chaired the Conference to Re-establish the Central Committee of the Party, commonly known as the 7th Central Conference.
At the Conference, he was nominated to be General Secretary, but he refused, because he devoted all his heart, time and effort to the revolutionary movement in the South. Immediately after the Conference, he returned to the South to convey the Central Committee's directive on postponing the Southern Uprising. However, upon arriving in Saigon on the night of November 22, 1940, he was arrested by the French colonialists.
On March 3, 1941, the French colonial court sentenced comrade Phan Dang Luu to death. On August 26, 1941, he was executed along with comrade Nguyen Van Cu.

In order to commemorate and express gratitude for the contributions of comrade Phan Dang Luu to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, over the years, with the attention of all levels, ministries and branches from the central to the grassroots levels, the Phan Dang Luu Memorial Site and House in Hoa Thanh Commune, Yen Thanh District have been upgraded, repaired and restored. However, over time, under the harsh impact of natural disasters, many relic items have been damaged and degraded; the technical infrastructure and overall landscape have not met practical needs and are not commensurate with the position and value of a national historical relic. Therefore, the restoration and restoration of the Phan Dang Luu Memorial Site is appropriate, legitimate, necessary and well-founded.
