(Baonghean.vn) - While checking a taxi on the road, a man carrying a black bag tried to open the door to run away, but the police quickly restrained him with more than 1.1 kg of heroin.

On January 24, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of Nghe An Province Police said that the unit is completing the file to prosecute Tran Van Khanh (born in 1986), residing in Thanh Long Commune, Thanh Chuong District, for the act of "Illegal trading of narcotics". Previously, Khanh was caught red-handed by Dien Chau Traffic Police Station (Traffic Police Department of Nghe An Province Police) for the act of "Illegal possession of narcotics".

At about 1:00 a.m. on January 19, 2022, while on duty on National Highway 1A, the Working Group of Dien Chau Traffic Police Station received a report from the people that a subject was transporting a large quantity of drugs from Nghe An to the North for consumption.

Immediately afterwards, Dien Chau Traffic Police Station reported to the leaders of the Traffic Police Department and related units to quickly come up with specific plans and strategies toambush. At about 02:00 on January 19, 2022, the Working Group inspected taxi with license plate 37A-286.13 driven by NHA (born in 1986), residing in Thanh Chuong district, Nghe An province. The vehicle was carrying a man carrying a black handbag. Seeing the police inspecting the vehicle, the man opened the door to run away, but the police quickly subdued him. During the inspection, it was discovered that the subject's handbag contained many packages of white compressed powder (suspected to be heroin).

That same night, Dien Chau Traffic Police Station handed over the subject and evidence to the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police for handling according to the provisions of law.

At the police station, the suspect confessed that his name was Tran Van Khanh (born in 1986), residing in Thanh Long commune, Thanh Chuong district, Nghe An province. The above evidence was heroin that the suspect bought from the border of Thanh Chuong district and then brought to the North for consumption.

Authorities have tested the white powder found in Tran Van Khanh's handbag and found it to be heroin, with a total weight of more than 1.1 kg.

Subject Tran Van Khanh has a criminal record for "Illegal drug trafficking" and "Receiving property obtained by others through crime".

Currently, the authorities are carrying out procedures to prosecute Tran Van Khanh for the act of "Illegal drug trafficking".
