China Press, a Chinese-language newspaper in Malaysia, quoted a source saying that on the day of the February 13 incident at Kuala Lumpur airport, Kim Jong-nam was carrying a lot of cash, some gold jewelry and documents.

Mr. Kim had 1,200 $100 bills on him.Malaysian police said the killer knew that Mr. Kim had the money but did not take it to avoid raising suspicion, because his only mission was to kill. The money and jewelry on Mr. Kim were kept by the police as evidence.

Moment victim attacked at airport:

Malaysian police confirmed last week that Kim Chol was Kim Jong-nam, the older brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. Malaysia's deputy prime minister said today that they had identified the victim using his son's DNA. North Korea's ambassador to the United Nations yesterday still refused to acknowledge that the dead man was Jong-nam and insisted that he was Kim Chol.

The New Straits Times today also quoted sources saying that the gold necklace with pictures of his wife and son that the victim wore around his neck when he was taken to Putrajaya Hospital on the day of his murder contributed to identifying Kim Jong-nam.

Malaysia said his body had been embalmed for better preservation. The Malaysian Health Ministry said the victim's family had two to three weeks to claim the body, otherwise the government would have to consider other options.
