Tiger snake slithers up Christmas tree in Australia. |
An Australian woman was shocked to find a 1m long venomous snake wrapped around a Christmas tree at her home.
She called an expert to remove a tiger snake that was slithering on a Christmas tree in a suburb of Melbourne, Australia, on December 18.
Snake catcher Barry Goldsmith said the snake slithered into the house through an open window, then “climbed” up a tree and wrapped itself around a glittering decoration.
Tiger snakes are found in coastal provinces of Australia. This is an extremely venomous snake, according to BBC.

The cobra is an extremely venomous snake with good climbing ability. |
Goldsmith said the woman “reacted quite well” after discovering the snake. “She left the room, put a towel down to block the door and called me.”
The snake has been released into the wild. It is a protected species in most Australian states.
“I’ve seen tiger snakes everywhere, in boots, washing machines, dog kennels, toilets, kitchen cabinets and bookcases,” Mr Goldsmith added.
“Cobras are very good climbers,” said Goldsmith.
As the weather warms, snakes become more active. However, people should leave them alone and not kill them, Goldsmith advised. “It’s dangerous, illegal and cruel,” he said.
