Kinh Quoc: 'I married a wife, not a tycoon'

The actor said his love for his businesswoman wife comes from harmony, not because of fame or wealth.

- You are quite secretive about your love life, why did you decide to publicly announce your second marriage?

- She and I have been in love for four years but I have hardly ever shared anything. This time, because my friends shared my wedding photos on social media, I have just made my private life public. We have not made any specific plans for the wedding because we are both too busy, but we are already a family. In the middle of July, our daughter will be two years old.

For the past eight years, since divorcing my first wife, I have always felt guilty for not being able to keep my previous marriage intact. Five years after the divorce, I still regularly provide for my ex-wife and son. I have witnessed many divorced husbands abandoning their wives and children to live as they please. I would never do that to my ex-wife. Now, she has settled in the US, started a new family, and has a stable life. It is time for me to take care of my own business.

- Your second wife is referred to by everyone as a "rich woman". What do you think?

- I prefer to call my wife a successful businesswoman rather than a tycoon. In Vung Tau city - where we live, there are many successful businessmen. Some own cars worth up to 20 billion. My wife and I each have our own position in our work. I have my own house in Saigon, have a business and am busy with film projects. I am not used to depending on anyone. I think the most important thing for us to come together is the value in each person.

Now that I’m married, I only know that my wife has two houses in Vung Tau. Other than that, I don’t care or know much about her assets. A few years ago, she gave me a Lexus worth 7 billion VND, but I don’t use it often, I just like to ride a motorbike for speed. I married a wife, not a tycoon.

Sometimes I dress too casually, people look at my appearance and do not think highly of me. They do not know that if I want anything, I can have it. It is just that my nature likes simplicity and comfort. My wife often takes me to branded fashion stores, wanting to buy me all kinds of luxurious things, but I do not care. Only when I need to appear at events or work that requires showing off my appearance, do I use branded goods.

- What do you love most about your wife?

- I don't ask my woman to change to please me. Until now, she still hasn't seen my movies while many of her friends idolize me.

I like her in different ways from me. I am quiet, introverted, gentle... and she is the opposite. But after going through the first breakup, I realized that for a couple to have a long-term relationship, they must not be completely the same but must complement each other. We have been together for four years, and it was a stormy period, not always peaceful. There were fierce arguments, fiery clashes... And when everything about each other was exposed, we finally understood each other to live under the same roof. She has a personality like a man, not willing to be "inferior" to anyone, except me.

- You and your wife both have children, how do you take care of them?

- I currently live in two places, going back and forth between Ho Chi Minh City and Vung Tau. My son with my ex-wife is only nine years old. He is living with his grandmother in Saigon. He is still young so I have not shared about my marriage. I remember one time, when my son was with me, I called her, and he immediately asked: "Who are you calling me, Dad?". I want my son to always think that I am his only one. When he is older and more understanding, I will explain. My new wife also often reminds me to come back to take care of and worry about my son. When my son is about 10-11 years old, he will go to the US to live with his mother to have better conditions to study.

My current wife also had a broken marriage and has two children, so she understands how much children need their father's love. I live with her and the two children in Vung Tau. Her children love me.

- You have a lot of female fans, how do you keep your wife from getting jealous?

- My wife is the same age as me. Usually women the same age as men look older, especially women who have to worry about work. I look younger than my age. I am often gossiped about "why don't you marry a hot girl, a young girl". I don't understand why people assume that famous people must be associated with rich men, beautiful women. I like beautiful girls, like looking at beautiful women, but that is just liking, not love. At this age, we both understand that the precious, important things in life are love, family and children.
